RALEIGH—Jay Parmley the executive director of the North Carolina Democratic Party has resigned.

According to the Associated Press, Parmley turned in his resignation in the wake of frustrations of high turnover at the party headquarters and harassment allegations. Last week, two conservative websites reported a senior member of the party sexually harassed a male staffer who later quit his job.

Those websites also states there was a settlement and non disclosure agreement involved with the scandal.

Parmley was named on one of those websites as the perpetrator, but in the resignation, Parmley strongly denies any harassment. According to the Associated Press, party chairman David Parker accepted the resignation and said he believes there have not been grounds to fire Parmley.
