MAGNOLIA, N.C. – Widespread damage across Duplin County has kept residents busy cleaning up. The National Weather Service reported that there were no tornadoes, but lots of straight line wind. Their reports indicated that wind speeds reached 70 mph. Trees were uprooted throughout most of the area and some residents even suffered property damage.
"I had a neighbor call me and say that he had come down to my house to check on me, because he couldn't reach me by phone, and called and told me that I had a tree through my roof," said Robbie Bostic, a resident of the area.
Part of the county was also without power through most of Friday night.
