NEWTON, N.C. -- A Catawba County man is facing murder charges in connection to the death of a woman whose body was found burned in a car. Authorities charged Jermaine Wilkes with murder Friday.
Deputies say Wilkes killed 22-year-old Brianne Ginty after an argument and tried to hide her body in some woods. Ginty's body was discovered after a landowner noticed smoke coming from his property.
The cause of Ginty's death has not been released. Her body was sent to Chapel Hill for an autopsy. Wilkes is also charged with burning personal property and destroying remains.
