CHARLOTTE -- A 5-year-old infected with E. coli got the royal treatment as she was released from the hospital Monday evening. Doctors thought Hannah Roberts would be in the hospital for six weeks, but was released after two. She had blood transfusions and was on dialysis.
Her parents say they attended the Cleveland County Fair but that Hannah did not touch any animals or eat anything. The family is now just happy to have her back at home.
"It is absolutely amazing. She's been perky. At first she wasn't quite eating and we were struggling a little bit with her blood counts but everything turned out to be OK and we just have to watch her," said Hannah's mother Tracy Roberts."She goes back to the doctor on Thursday but she's a totally different child then when we first brought back her in."
One woman who saw the Roberts' family story on Facebook donated her Pink Mary Kay Cadillac for the family's ride home. The family will treat Hannah to a pink party Monday night.
