CHARLOTTE--The Carolina Panthers take on the New Orleans Saints Sunday afternoon in their season home opener.
This season there are some tighter security restrictions fans need to know about before they head to the game.
This isn't just a Panthers mandate, these are security changes mandated by the NFL and they began during preseason games.
Fans that are going to Sunday's game can expect for their belongings to be searched.
Security staff will search for any prohibited items in items such as purses, diaper bags and camera cases.
Fans can also expect to see security using hand-held metal detecting wands, as well as pat downs while entering the stadium.
Panthers said if fans don't want to comply, then they will not be getting into the game.
Fans can expect it to take a little longer to get into the stadium because of the new security measures and gates open at 11:00 a.m., with kickoff at 1:00 p.m.
