CHARLOTTE — The Democratic National Convention may be over, but the direct benefit to the Carolina region is not.
That was the case Monday, as workers began transferring 15,000 sq. ft. of carpet inside Time Warner Cable Arena to Habitat for Humanity re-stores. The carpet was donated and will be divvied up among seven ReStores, from Columbia, South Carolina to Cornelius, NC.
It is a gift that will make hundreds of area living rooms living pieces of political history.
"It's the 2012 Democratic National Convention carpet. It couldn't be any more historic than that. We are privileged and proud to have that at a Habitat store," said Brian Henry with Habitat For Humanity.
Habitat For Humanity organizers said it is unclear how the convention carpet will be promoted and sold.
