MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- The investigation continues into an officer involved shooting that sent one person to the hospital. It happened Wednesday night at a home on Broad Street in Mooresville.
Guns, police and flashing lights set the stage in Mooresville Wednesday. What started as a response to a call about a break-in, ended with one man shot by police.
Officers said when they arrived to the home around 10 p.m., they noticed a suspicious person. One of the responding officers ended up shooting the man.
"I came out on the porch and there were at least eight or nine police cars with their lights flashing and stuff," said neighbor Gerald Weabr.
Weabr says he was getting ready for work when he heard the commotion.
"I heard three or four gunshots when I was inside the house," said Weabr.
Neighbors said it's not uncommon to hear loud noise coming from the home. They also said police have been called to the address several times. But some said they ignore it just to keep the peace.
"I could care less about what goes on over there as long as it don't come over to my house," said Weabr.
Mooresville Police officers were at the scene of the shooting until about 5:30 Thursday morning.
