GREENSBORO -- Greensboro Police Chief Ken Miller has a real problem with crime statistics released last week by the State Bureau of Investigations. In a nutshell, he says they're wrong.
Miller says the SBI shows higher violent crimes than actually occurred. For example, the SBI reports 19 murder victims in Greensboro in 2010 and 41 victims last year. Miller says the real numbers are 17 for 2010 and 25 last year.
According to Miller, the differences are caused in how the department collects data compared to the state. The department is considering consolidating the four management sections that gather and analyze crime to help improve accuracy,
