WINSTON-SALEM—Some area kids got an important lesson in healthy eating Friday.
The children helped plant a garden at the Boys and Girls Club of Winston-Salem. The project is part of the Good Food Gardens Program, a charity sponsored by the Food Network and Share Our Strength.
Each garden is equipped with all the necessary planting materials. The program helps teach the kids and their families about the value of fresh fruits and vegetables.
"Even for our kids, as they saw the build come up, they were just excited. We've already had some of our parents come by. They're really excited. So it's just good,” said Sylvia Adams, with the Boys and Girls Club of Winston Salem
Time Warner Cable employees helped plant the garden. Time Warner Cable is the parent company of News 14 Carolina.
