GREENSBORO – The countdown to Black Friday is on. Wal-Mart employees spent Wednesday stocking store shelves in preparation for one of their busiest days of the year.
And this year many Wal-Mart stores will open doors much earlier than usual.
"Our event starts at midnight this year so we expect to be fully covered up with customers at midnight verses previous years of 5 a.m.," Wal-Mart manager Cindy Landwehrmann said.
With so many customers flooding the store there will be plenty of employees on hand.
"We will have someone in every area of the store. We will have every cash register open and we fully expect our customers to get in and out with ease so they can go on and finish their day," Landwehrmann said.
While stores work to promote some of their biggest sales of the year, some shoppers say they will not be out this Friday.
"I think the bargains in this economy will be there now throughout Christmas. So I think I'll take my chances on that," shopper Billy Hooper said.
Old Navy will also open its doors at midnight. Many other stores will open at 4 and 5 a.m.
