CHARLOTTE – The group Historic Charlotte kicked off a new campaign Tuesday called Save Our Signs.
It's an effort to keep and revitalize some of the old signs that make the Charlotte community unique.
The group is starting with the JFG Coffee sign, one of Charlotte's biggest landmark signs. It was taken down last year after decades of standing over Center City.
“Signs just have an ability to convey both a local landmark and an emotional landmark,” Diane Althouse, executive director of Historic Charlotte, said. “And it's something that I think would be kind of fun to save for Charlotte for future generations.”
During a news conference Tuesday, JFG announced their sign is coming back. They're going to spend the next two to three months refurbishing it.
They're also taking comments about where they should put the sign on their Facebook page.
