HIGH POINT -- It's been in his blood since he can remember.

Which it's why it's so hard to believe Bob Timberlake never planned on a life in art and design.

"I just naturally played with art, my imagination is huge," Bob Timberlake said.

And through the years that imagination grew into a brand, known worldwide for attention to detail and artwork featuring the North Carolina outdoors.

"Sporting, bird dogs, ducks, quail, all kinds of different things, even boats,” Timberlake said.

Pieces of a long, hardworking and creative life, now collected in one room.

"All kind of memories start flowing back, I can remember things that I thought about while I was painting the paintings," he added.

For his 75th birthday, he's giving a gift to a university near to his heart.

"My grandfather helped open High Point in the 1920s,” he said of High Point University.

And he's urging others to find what makes them want to get out of bed each day.

"Golly, I wait to get up and find something else to do, but I don't even have to find it though, there's something going on all the time,” Timberlake said.

While he may be past the age of retirement, there's no end in sight to his imagination.

"How many people know what they want to do, then how many fewer people get the chance to do what they love to do, and I'm one of them and that's why I feel so very fortunate,” he added.

The Seven Decades of Artwork has been extended through May 18 at High Point University's Sechrest Gallery. The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday through Sunday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
