CARRBORO — Carrboro residents are protesting plans to develop an 8,000 sq. ft. Family Dollar store in their neighborhood.
The store that would go up in the Alabama Avenue community still needs to get a variance and a special use permit. However neighbors said the town is expected to go along with the development. More than 400 people have signed a petition to stop it.
Homeowners say: If the store is built as planned, it would end up less than 50 feet from some houses.
The Carrboro Board of Adjustment is expected to make a decision on the proposal on May 17.
