RALEIGH -- After two confirmed cases of seasonal flu in our state, the Division of Public Health is encouraging people to get vaccinated.

This week doctors diagnosed two children in Durham with seasonal flu. Health officials say cases that happen this early in the season aren't a reason to panic. However, it's a good reason to go ahead and roll up your sleeve.

"It's not too early to receive the flu vaccine and it can last you up to a year for protection,” said pharmacist Debbie Pruss.

This year the Centers for Disease Control is recommending everyone over 6 months-old should get a flu shot.

The CDC says flu season typically goes through April and peaks around February.
