RALEIGH – One of the largest and longest running 10K runs in North Carolina hit the streets Sunday, as the 26th annual Old Reliable Run brought out more than 2,000 participants to Raleigh.

The run benefits United Way of the Great Triangle. Organizers say the money will help improve health, education, income and safety for both young people and families.

“These monies raised today will go toward programs that are vetted out by our various committees and work with our partner agencies to provide key outcomes in this community,” R.J. Moshay, vice president of marketing and promotion for the United Way of the Greater Triangle.

Since 2003, the run has raised more than $500,000 for the United Way. The organization serves Durham, Johnston, Orange and Wake counties.
