DURHAM – A man is dead after a pedestrian accident Tuesday morning in Durham.

Police say Eric Franklin Simpson, 27, was attempting to cross U.S. 15-501 from Mount Moriah Road when he was struck by a Toyota Camry driven by 31-year-old Vernon Chris Worley.

The investigation continues, though police say it doesn’t appear there will be any charges after the driver said he did not see the pedestrian.

Traffic was reduced to two lanes, but roads were opened shortly after the morning rush hour.
