CARY, N.C. – More than 1,000 college student, faculty and gaming industry members from around the world joined together online Friday to kick off a weekend-long game-building marathon in Cary.

It’s the first ever Triangle Global Game Jam.

The event featured more than 40 local game developers and gamers.

Participants said working to develop, design and refine game ideas really brings everyone together.

“A more fundamental goal is achieving something as a team with people you may never have met before in an environment that’s unfamiliar and really succeeding at that, despite not knowing who these other people might be,” said Fallen Earth game designer Wes Platt.

The Game Jam kicked off Friday night and ends at 5 p.m. Sunday.
