In 2006, his wife Michelle Young was murdered in their Wake County home. No arrest has been made, but the victim’s mother filed the wrongful death suit asking a court to declare that Jason Young killed his wife or was an accomplice to the crime.

Court papers released on Tuesday show that Jason Young missed the 30-day deadline to respond and therefore defaulted on it.

The attorney for Michelle Young’s mother says by not responding, Jason Young is admitting guilt in the civil matter and may not have access to his late wife’s life insurance.
