CHAPEL HILL -- Chapel Hill police said new surveillance photos from a convenience store are their latest break in their investigation into the murder of 22-year-old Eve Carson, a UNC Chapel Hill senior and student body president.
"The photo depicts an African-American male going into an area convenience store," explained Chapel Hill Police Chief Brian Curran. "The convenience store has an ATM inside, and he is the only person in the store at the time an attempt was made to use Eve Carson's ATM card."

Curran said investigators believe the person in the photo is the same man seen in an ATM surveillance photo released over the weekend. That photo showed a man attempting to use Carson's ATM card, as well.
Curran said he is not sure whether the vehicle seen in that photo belongs to Carson. Her 2005 Toyota Highlander was stolen during the crime. Investigators recovered it the day after her death on a street a few blocks from where she died.
A search warrant reveals that investigators have also found Carson's cell phone. They found it near the Eastgate Shopping Center off East Franklin Street, about a 1.5 miles from the crime scene.
As police continue their search for answers, those who mourn Carson's death continued visiting her memorial on Tuesday, searching for answers, too.
"We both wanted to come and see [the memorial]," said Michele Murdock, who visited the campus memorial Tuesday with her husband, Peter Stein. "We saw it on television and we thought that it would be, in a way, paying our respects, being a little more involved in the healing process I guess because we feel it too, even though we're new to Chapel Hill. We think it's a terrible thing."
