MOORE COUNTY, N.C. -- The N.C. High School Athletic Association handed down a decision following a post-game brawl between two Moore County high schools. Officials say both Pinecrest and Union Pines high schools cannot play in the postseason due to the number of players who were ejected.
Three players from each high school got into trouble for fighting in a bench clearing brawl last Friday night. Association rules state if three or more players are ejected for fighting from one team, that team is barred from the playoffs that year. Both schools also face fines because their players left the bench during the fight. The ejected players will be suspended for two games.
The schools will conduct independent investigations and may discipline more players.
