GREENSBORO -- The search for a new Greensboro police chief is down to two finalists.
They are Kenneth Miller, senior deputy chief for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, and Lisa Womack, the former police chief of the Elgin Police Department in Illinois.
Officials have assembled five panels to assess the candidates.
Current police chief Tim Bellamy will retire July 31. Assistant chief Dwight Crotts will serve as interim chief effective Aug. 1.
