GREENSBORO – Authorities say 60-year-old Judy Alvis Harper will spend at least 16 months in jail for the death of a 16-month-old child.
The former owner of the Palmer-Leigh Small World Day Care Center was charged in March of last year when the toddler, Jackson Edmonds, died from hypothermia after being left in a car in the driveway of the day care.
State officials closed the day care that week, saying it was not a safe and healthy environment and that circumstances related to the facility constitute an injurious environment.
She was also given a suspended sentence and supervised probation.
