Officials initially called the bomb squad, but everything turned out OK.
GREENSBORO – A suspicious substance found in a bag at PTI Airport caused a security scare early on Saturday morning.
Just before 7 a.m., TSA and airport security officials say they found a plastic bag filled with a suspicious dirt substance while screening luggage. Officials initially called the bomb squad, but soon determined the bag contained dirt and other fossils.
"We're always going to take the safety side of something like this,” said Edward A. Johnson, PTI Airport Authority executive director. “We're going to take a look at it, if it does look suspicious, then hopefully all of it will turn out just as this one did today."
After the bag and contents were identified, Johnson says the woman who owned the luggage was placed back in the plane.
