Principal Brad Craddock says the program will help students with their financial literacy.
WINSTON-SALEM – Some area high school students can now do all their banking without leaving campus.
Simon Atkins High School in Winston-Salem is the second school to team with Allegacy Federal Credit Union to open a student-run bank branch. Bank officials say they hope the students get hands-on experience managing their own accounts.
“I think it's helping the kids because it's teaching them financial literacy, and I think it's helping the schools because it's showing what the student's at Atkins are capable of and what we are all about,” said Principal Brad Craddock.
Nine student volunteers will help run the bank three days a week during lunch periods.
