GREENSBORO -- It's a busy time of the year at Josette's Bridal. It’s a little more than a month until the first proms of the year.

“Most of the girls know what color they think they want, what style they're leaning towards and now they're out looking for that one dress,” Daune Galbraith, owner of Josette's Bridal, said.

But not everyone can afford a gown for prom and that's where the Greensboro Youth Council is helping out.

“It's just that satisfaction of taking what you have and helping those in need,” Youth Council member Brian Clark said.

They're doing that by collecting gently used prom dresses.

“Well it's just really making sure that the Guilford County youth are able to go to prom, have a good time at prom, just because it is such a big social event,” Clark said.

The gowns will go to needy teens through out the county.

“We desperately need plus sizes, and evening gowns. Like I said, not your Sunday church dresses, we're looking for prom dresses, gowns, but also shoes and accessories,” Clark said.

And for the teens attending prom, searching through the racks to find that perfect dress is everything.

“This is the one big event for them. This is the one big chance they get to really dress up, put on a show for themselves for their family, for their friends for their dates, they want to be really, really special this one night,” Galbraith said.

And with some help from Greensboro’s Youth, that's a possibility.

If you have extra prom dresses at your house -- you can help the Greensboro Youth Council by donating them. You can drop off your gently used prom dresses off at the Greensboro Youth Council on 501 Yanceyville Street Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or you can take your dresses to Josette's Bridal at 2130 New Garden Road. They'll be accepting the gowns from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
