FAYETTEVILLE — Cumberland County animal control said it is still trying to contain more than seven packs of wild dogs roaming different areas of the county.

Officials said they will increase patrols during the early morning hours where the packs are usually seen. They also said they will do all they can to provide a barrier between residents and the dogs.

"We're educating the public, letting them know that there is a problem. We certainly want to be proactive in any way that we can that will help protect the public. That is our main goal, that's why we are in existence. We need to provide a barrier between these wild animals, these feral animals, and the citizens of Cumberland County," said John Lauby, director of animal services.

Lauby also urges anyone who spots a pack to get to safety and contact animal control.
