WILMINGTON – A rally will held in Wilmington on Tuesday night regarding the Wilmington 10.
The group was convicted of burning down a store and shooting at firefighters in Wilmington in 1971. In 1980, a U.S. appellate court overturned their convictions citing prosecutorial misconduct and unreliable witnesses.
However, the state never officially cleared their names.
In May, the remaining living members and the state NAACP requested pardons of innocence.
The rally will be held at 7 p.m. at St. Stephen’s AME Church.
