HAMPSTEAD, N.C. — The Warrior Ride continued Friday along the coast.

On Thursday, students cheered on wounded veterans as they began the three-day bike ride. The ride gives troops a chance to bond with other injured military members. Warrior Ride founder and organizer Bob Racine said it also allows participants to see just how much the community appreciates their service and sacrifice.

"We the community, you yourself are giving these people the opportunity to see that they are loved by our country and they have a chance for life the rest of their lives," said Racine, Ret. WO3 U.S. Army

The program hopes to raise funds to purchase more adaptable bikes that fit the needs of veterans with other types of injuries.
