KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C — As Hurricane Earl continues its run up the East Coast, life is returning back to normal on the Outer Banks.

Parts of the Outer Banks are still cleaning up from flooding and wind damage the storm left behind. The ocean is still churning from Hurricane Earl, but beach goers are back.

"Weather is great here now, and we're just going to enjoy the rest of the weekend,” said vacationer Tom Tupponce.

Meanwhile, hotels are filling up again. Grant Carpenter's family came to the Cavalier Motel after learning the beach house they were going to stay in in Rodanthe wouldn't be ready yet.

"As long as we're here we're happy. We'll make the best of it," said Carpenter.

Businesses are trying to salvage what's left of the holiday weekend. Labor Day is the last big weekend of the season and businesses try to cash in. At Stack 'Em High, business was off 60-percent on Friday and managers think it'll be off 30-percent for the weekend.

"It could be more we don't know, but its a beautiful weekend now so we're hoping people will just bypass Earl's remnants and come on down," said Nick Kiousis of Stack 'Em High

The restaurant opened at 9:00 a.m. on Friday right after Earl passed. Although managers think they'll be hurting this weekend, they said it could have been a lot worse.

The northern part of Dare County lifted their evacuation order Friday at 12:00 p.m.. The order was lifted for Hatteras Island at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday.
