A Cape Fear Community College student and veteran is honored with tools. U.S. Air Force veteran Kevin Young received $2,500 worth of automotive tools on Thursday. He is the college's first recipient of the "Hire Our Heroes" grant program from 3M. It aims to help place veterans in the auto repair industry.

A change of command ceremony, aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point Wednesday, brought new leadership to the Second Marine Aircraft Wing. Hundreds came out to witness the transferring of colors from Major General Glenn Walters to Brigadier General Robert Hedelund. Walters has been appointed to a position at the Marine Corps national headquarters.

More than a year after her mysterious disappearance, the Army has declared Fort Bragg soldier Spc. Kelli Bordeaux dead. Bordeaux was last seen on April 14, 2012 leaving the Froggy Bottoms bar in Fayetteville. The Army changed her status to deceased this week and notified her mother and husband.

The Surgeon General of the U.S. Navy visited Camp Lejeune to talk about the state of Navy Medicine. The surgeon general got a tour of the new multi-million dollar outpatient wing and emergency room, both of which are set to open at Camp Lejeune in just three to four weeks.

License plates featuring the Battleship North Carolina could soon be on the way. Applications for the First in Flight license plates are now being taken. At least 300 people with registered vehicles must apply for the plates in order to move forward with the plate production.

Police say the wet weather is to blame for a crash that killed 20-year-old Elizabeth Griffiths, an East Carolina student from Raleigh. A pickup truck driven by 17-year-old Mitchell Wilkerson hydroplaned on Arlington Road Monday and slammed into her.

The state medical examiner's office has revised the death toll from a tornado in an Oklahoma City suburb to 24 people, including nine children. Spokeswoman Amy Elliott said Tuesday morning that she believes some victims were counted twice in the early chaos of the storm.
