MCADENVILLE -- Christmas Town USA may soon have more than just lights to offer visitors.
This fall, residents are expected to vote on whether alcohol can be sold within the town limits. Hundreds of residents signed a petition getting the issue put on special October ballot.
Several council members and faith leaders like McAdenville Baptist Church Pastor Walt Griggs are against the referendum.
βI think it is like most things I like to call evil, it just seems like the world is just growing that way,β said Griggs. βIt is going to come eventually, but I would like to see it postponed as long as possible.β
Residents who are for the referendum say selling alcohol could lure new businesses and visitors to the area.
