DEEP GAP, N.C. -- A little girl who was killed by a tombstone will be laid to rest today.
Four-year-old Peyton Townsend died on Friday during vacation bible school when a large cross-shaped slab slid off a headstone in the cemetery of Mount Paran Baptist Church in Watauga County.
The slab weighed more than a thousand pounds.
Funeral services will be held Monday night at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Blowing Rock.
Donations can be made to the Lilly Grace Townsend Educational Fund, in care of the State Employees Credit Union.
