RALEIGH – Allscripts hosted its 11th annual "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work" day Thursday in Raleigh.

The children participated in a community service activity, making toiletry bags for people affected by the April 16th tornadoes. They also added messages of hope to each bag before they were collected.

The project allowed children to learn the significance of their parents' job within an interactive environment.

"With this recent situation with the tornadoes, we thought what a great idea for the kids to understand that this is such a priority for us to give back,” said Diane Adams, Allscripts Exec. V.P. for Culture and Talent. “So we thought with the tornado victims this would be a good way for them to see that this part of their parents lives as well."

"The teamwork that they learn in school, they can see it applied here,” said parent Ernest James. “They can see that we work in a team environment."

The bags will be distributed by the Salvation Army to victims across the state.
