Irish festival paints the town green

CHARLOTTE—The spirit of Ireland came alive in uptown Charlotte at this year's Irish Summer Festival this weekend.

Hundreds gathered at the corner of Third and Tryon streets for Saturday's festivities which features Irish music, dancing, food and a Gaelic football expedition. But for

"It's all about passing on culture to the next generation or the grandchildren and stuff like that," said Rick Sainz, a vendor at the festival.

The annual event raises money for Camp Care which supports child cancer patients.
