CORNELIUS, N.C. -- When the call went out Thursday morning about a building collapse in Cornelius, some emergency workers didn't have far to go. That's because it was their building that had collapsed.

Medic officials say as a crew was backing into Medic Station 50 at about 3:15 a.m., the truck hit an outside wall, causing the roof to collapse. The crew was able to get the truck out and no one was hurt.

Now the focus turns to repairing the building and investigating how this happened.

“We can interview the crew and get their version of what happened," said Medic spokesman Jeff Keith. "We can of course review the evidence that that on-board recorder gives us, and then in an instance like this, we’re also going to use the structural evidence at this building and we’ll put it call together."

The on-board recorders installed on all Medic ambulances are similar to black boxes on airplanes.
