GASTONIA, N.C. -- A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a weekend wreck that killed a Gaston County teen. Howard Pasour faces a number of charges, including second degree murder, DWI, and assault with a deadly weapon. This is at least his third DWI arrest.

Authorities say Pasour's Jeep crossed the center line on the Dallas-Cherryville Highway Sunday night and hit another car head-on. Laura Fortenberry, 17, died.

Fortenberry just graduated from North Gaston High School and began college just two days before this crash. Friends are mourning her death.

"Remembering her makes us smile and then we think of what happened to her makes us sad," said Ashley Piercy.

They hope if nothing else, this sends a message to other would-be drunk drivers out there.

"Laura was such an amazing person," said Piercy. "This shouldn't of happened to her. Think before you do it."

The two other teens in the car with Fortenberry, 19-year-old Victoria Iffergan and 17-year-old Evan Griffith were injured.
