CHARLOTTE – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's bomb squad was dispatched to the Amtrak station on North Tryon Street Thursday to investigate after suspicious bags were found on a train that arrived in Charlotte Thursday morning.

Police shut down service at the station for about an hour and a half. They also closed multiple streets along Tryon Street near the station.

Hazmat crews and CMPD crews did not find any hazardous materials in the packages that were found on three tanker train cars.

Bomb squad members took the bags from the trains and removed items from the bags that were deemed nonhazardous.

The station was evacuated. Another train headed from Raleigh to Charlotte was delayed.
