CHARLOTTE -- A US Airways jet bound for Charlotte made an emergency landing Thursday at an upstate New York airport after the pilot reported a bird strike shortly after takeoff.
An airline spokesperson says the pilot of flight 1101 declared an emergency two minutes after leaving Rochester's airport.
The airbus carrying 129 passengers and crew landed safely at 8:30 a.m. and the plane will now be repaired.
Airline officials shifted the passengers to other flights.
