CHARLOTTE – According to a new report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employers are bringing on a growing number of temporary workers. The report says temp jobs were up by 48,000 workers in February, bringing the total to 2 million nationally.
Last month's increase was up 284,000 jobs since September. Also, temporary staffing agencies say more employers are now converting those temporary positions into permanent ones.
“As of two weeks ago, we started seeing more and more companies calling, asking for the number of hours contract workers had worked so they could convert them over, and that's showing a lot of confidence with the companies,” Michelle Fish, of Integra Staffing and Executive Search, said.
