The CMS board will meet on Monday with county leaders.
CHARLOTTE – Mecklenburg County commissioners and Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board members will meet on Monday to discuss budget issues.
The board approved the CMS superintendent’s plan on Tuesday night to eliminate more than 500 jobs, including teachers and assistant principals. The layoffs are a result of state and local funding shortfalls that could require CMS to cut $87 million from its budget next year.
Elementary teachers with less than four years of experience are in danger of losing their job.
Monday’s meeting will be at the Government Center. No specifics have been released as to what will be discussed, but the public is invited.
