CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -- On Friday, 73 students turned their tassels at Lejeune High School. Even with a relatively small graduating class, the graduates of 2012 amassed $1.3 million dollars in scholarships.
To help every parent celebrate the event, Camp Lejeune offered a live feed of the ceremony to those deployed overseas.
Chris Kelsey's father was watching in Afghanistan and says the milestone was bittersweet for him.
"It's hard but again I know he's still watching, he's still proud so it actually benefits me because I know he's still out there and thinking about me," said Kelsey.
Some of the graduates are now certified nurse aids as well. Lejeune High School began offering the CNA program two years ago, and is the only Department of Defense school in the United States to offer the training.
