Wayne County man charged with statutory rape

GOLDSBORO, N.C. – We have new information on a story we first reported Friday night involving a statutory rape case in Wayne County.

According to a news release from the sheriff's office, the victim in this case in now identified as being 15 years old.

Jeffrey Daughtry, 20, of Pikeville has been charged in the case. He was picked up about a month ago when authorities were on routine patrol in the Rosewood area.

When police approached him, Daughtry was in the company of two juvenile girls.

According to the release, one of those two girls is the alleged victim.
