GREENSBORO – The jury completed their third day of deliberations Tuesday in the John Edwards campaign finance trial with no verdict in sight.

The jury still seems to be focusing on Edwards' benefactor Bunny Mellon and whether the money she gave was meant for his campaign. The jury requested two more exhibits.

The jury appears to be stuck on the second and third charges related to the donations from heiress Mellon. So the jury requested two more exhibits.

They are both letters from her attorney, Alex Forger. One letter is to Andrew Young asking the then Sen. Edwards to support a cause. The other was a letter to Mellon informing her that Edwards' would like her to give more money and support.

The letters date back to 2006. A year before Edwards' declared his presidential campaign.

Former federal prosecutor Kieran Shanahan said the jury may be having a hard time determining the intent of the money. After all, they never heard any testimony from the 101-year-old heiress. So the jury is left to look at all available documents and other witness testimony to decide if her contributions were really meant for the campaign or not.
