WILMINGTON—UNC Wilmington students turned their tassels and received their degrees Saturday.

More than 2,000 Seahawks graduated this weekend. One new graduate said she has been dreaming of this day for years and now that it has arrived it feels surreal.

"It is something that has been in front of me for so long and now we are at that point where I am at the end of my plans so I am starting a new job in June and I am looking forward to that," said UNCW graduate Virginia Winder.

The class of 2012 is the first to graduate under new chancellor Gary Miller.
