JACKSONVILLE, N.C. – The new chancellor for the University of North Carolina at Wilmington spent the day in Jacksonville Monday.
Doctor Gary Miller visited UNCW's extension campuses at Coastal Carolina Community College and Camp Lejeune to speak with students and education partners.
At Jacksonville City Hall, Chancellor Miller reiterated his institution's long term plans in the community.
"We're considering expansion in a few programs but that's in the early discussion and of course there are resource issues that have to be overcome but yes we will continue to look for programs, new programs that meet the needs here," said Miller.
Right now more than 1,100 UNCW students are enrolled in Onslow County extension classes and since 1995 the university has given out over 1,000 baccalaureate or masters degrees to students in the extension program.
