AUTRYVILLE, N.C.—Bikers and the Bible are coming together every Sunday morning in the Sandhills region, offering a new way to practice Sunday morning worship.

Freedom Biker Church originated in Angier, N.C. in 2006 and now has five locations in North Carolina with the newest location in Autryville. The church has the same message as a typical Christian church yet attracts a crowd, mostly bikers, who never felt comfortable in a traditional church.

The church’s Pastor, J.D. Tew, says that the congregation is diverse and strives to help its members not feel self-conscious.

“It’s just genuine, people are just open and can be themselves,” said Pastor Tew.

The church currently uses a barn in Autryville for its Sunday services, but eventually plans to move to Fayetteville. As the congregation continues to grow, they plan on adding another location in the area and work to reach bikers on a personal level.

“We want bikers in the community to feel like they have somewhere to belong. This is a family, it’s not a church, it’s a family,” said Tew.
