PITTSBORO – A judge plans to send former John Edwards aide Andrew Young to prison over an alleged sex video.
Superior Court Judge Abraham Jones said Tuesday he believes a copy of the video, which Young claims shows Edwards having sex, is still missing. Specifically, Jones is worried about a flash drive the Youngs were never able to produce.
Jones is giving Young's legal team until a Friday hearing to either produce the drive or turn over a detailed timeline of what happened to it. If Young fails to comply, Jones said he must report to prison until March 17.
Young's wife will not face jail time.
Two weeks ago, a superior court judge issued a contempt order against Young. The judge also asked him to submit an affidavit that detailed how Young handled a tape that he says shows Edwards having sex with his mistress.
Edwards' mistress, Rielle Hunter, sued Young for invasion of privacy after Young claimed he found the tape in a house he rented for Hunter. That video has since been turned over to the court.
The judge had also asked a computer forensics expert to examine Young's hard drive for copies of photos Hunter has requested.
