NEW BERN, N.C. – U.S. Senator Richard Burr paid a visit to eastern North Carolina this weekend.

The state's senior Republican senator took time to chat with voters in New Bern, where a crowd gathered to show their support.

Burr, who recently filed for re-election, says despite some pressure to consider a run for president, he doesn't have plans to enter presidential politics. Instead, he wants to focus on the task at hand.

"And truthfully, I don't look at it that way,” Burr said. "I'm doing a job that I never dreamed I would do. And my only focus is on how to do that the best I possibly can for the people of N.C."

Burr also stopped in Pamlico County Saturday.
