CHARLOTTE – A lightning strike grounded a flight from Charlotte headed to Florida.
Reports say a U.S. Airways airplane left Charlotte-Douglas International Airport Friday. On its way to Florida, lightning struck the plane, forcing it and its 73 passengers to make a ground stop in Montgomery, Ala., that night.
A U.S. Airways spokesperson says the airline offered passengers overnight accommodations or a limousine to make the three-hour drive to their destination of Pensacola.
No injuries were reported.
At this time, officials don’t know the extent of the damage to the plane, but it will be inspected.
