Loved ones to gather in honor of N.C. airman

FAYETTEVILLE – Visitation begins Thursday evening for a North Carolina airman killed in Afghanistan.

Air Force Tech Sgt. Adam Ginett died last week after an improvised explosive device went off. Ginett’s parents say the dangerous job of stopping bombs was a calling for the airman, who was an experience explosive ordinance specialist who served three tours in Iraq and two in Afghanistan.

Ginett, 29, earned the Bronze Star on this first tour in Afghanistan after he and his team helped stop Taliban insurgents.

The airman’s family will receive guests at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Fuquay-Varina starting at 5 p.m. his funeral is Friday morning at 11 a.m. at Raleigh Memorial Park on Glenwood Avenue.
